Detrimental Behaviors

Some patients participate in behaviors that are detrimental to their oral health. One of the most dangerous is the use of tobacco products. Cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, and chewing tobacco all have damaging effects on oral tissues. The most serious of these is oral cancer.

Psychological illnesses such as Bulimia can cause severe erosion of your teeth. This situation requires both dental and psychological therapy.

The most common detrimental behaviors are dietary. Sugars and acids in your diet can cause substantial damage to you teeth and oral tissues resulting in the need for extensive dental therapy.

Toothology™ is planned to be the most extensive dental patient information resource available in the world. We are currently in the final stages of our web site development. When complete, multiple pages of additional information on this topic will be available. Please visit us again soon, to easily find answers to your questions.
